Knoxville (WVLT) -- Folks in East Tennessee are lending a helping hand to those who fell victim to last weeks series of storms.
Right now First Baptist Church of Knoxville is conducting a collection drive.
Items such as canned hams, sugar, and cleaning supplies are just a few of the donations the church is accepting.
The much needed supplies will be sent to those in Macon County, one the hardest hit counties.
Several church members decided they needed to help after seeing the damage up close.
Church member Carol McEntyre says, "I was there on tuesday and saw a lot of the devastation, and it's heartbreaking."
First Baptist Church is sending a team of ten to Macon County Thursday to help with the storm clean up.
And the church plans to send more volunteers over the next several months.
