Knoxville Police Officer involved in crash

KNOXVILLE (WVLT) A Knoxville Police Department officer received minor injuries during an afternoon crash Tuesday.

KPD Spokesperson Darrell DeBusk says the accident happened at 3:45 pm at Magnolia and Spruce in Knoxville.

DeBusk says John Pickens was traveling in his marked cruiser when a Chevy Malibu pulled out, colliding with Pickens' car.

The driver of the Malibu, 73 year old Mike Humphrey was taken to St. Mary's for treatment.

It's thought he received only minor injuries.

Officer Pickens' was taken to UT Medical Center, also with minor injuries.

Humphrey was cited for failure to yield.

    To everyone who posted negative things. NO I WAS NOT RESPONDING EMERGENCY TRAFFIC. For the love people get a life. The man pulled out in front of me. It was an accident on a routine call for service. I was traveling the speed limit and had the right of way. That is the reason they are called accidents. I am not mad at the man ACCIDENTS HAPPEN. Look the only reason that you even care is because it is a good time to voice your opinion and you don't think that you will be called on it. So please know what you are talking about before you open your mouth, and please learn how to spell it makes it too hard to read
