Senate passes bill to move sales tax holiday off Easter weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The state Senate has voted to move next month's sales tax holiday so it won't fall on Easter weekend.

The bill would make the new dates for the sale tax holiday April 25 through April 27. It is currently scheduled for March 21 to March 23.

The sales tax break applies to clothing, school supplies and computers.

The House Finance Committee was scheduled to take up the companion bill on Tuesday.
