Hannah Montana, dad to host CMT Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Country singer and actor Billy Ray Cyrus will host the 2008 CMT Music Awards with his daughter, Miley, known better for her hugely popular pop-star alter ego, Hannah Montana.

The seventh annual show will feature performances from Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Sugarland, Taylor Swift and Toby Keith, with more to be announced later.

Billy Ray Cyrus first made it big on the country and pop music charts in 1992 with his hit "Achy Breaky Heart," but these days he's the real-life and TV father of Miley in her Disney TV show, sellout concert tour and its 3-D movie.

The show is filmed in Los Angeles, but the family has a home near Nashville.

The show will be held at Belmont University's Curb Event Center on April 14 and will be broadcast live on CMT at 8 p.m. Eastern.
