Department of Labor sues Knoxville College, former president

Knoxville (WVLT) -- Knoxville College and former president Dr. Barbara Hatton are being sued by the U.S. Department of Labor.

The lawsuit claims Knoxville College and Hatton failed to segregate contributions nor forward them to the retirement plan.

The missing contributions total more than $14,000.

College faculty and staff were allowed to give some of their pay to personal retirement funds.

The plan required the college to make matching contributions.

In addition to asking for losses, the suit asks the court to appoint someone other than the defendants to distribute the funds.
