TBI investigation clears officer in shooting

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- A Johnson City police officer who shot a man charged with trying to run over him with a car has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

A Tennessee Bureau of Investigation report released Wednesday says officer Alex Perry was justified when he fired three rounds at 27-year-old Christopher R. Green, who survived.

The Jan. 29 incident ended with Green crashing his car through a chain-link fence that borders the U.S. National Cemetery at Mountain Home.

Police were responding to a domestic dispute where Green allegedly threatened to cut a man's throat with a box cutter. When police arrived, Perry led officers on a short pursuit that ended with the crash.
