Flight diverted after some passengers get sick

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- A flight from the Dominican Republic to Canada made an emergency landing in Florida last night after eight passengers complained of being sick.

A spokesman for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport says Air Transat flight 477 was quarantined on the runway until officials from the Centers for Disease Control determined the sick passengers weren't suffering from any airborne illness.

The spokesman says all eight had eaten together earlier.

The other 245 passengers and nine crew members were cleared to continue their trip early this morning.
