NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Investigators say a Carthage police officer has shot and killed a man while responding to an argument between the man and his girlfriend.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says the Carthage officer struggled briefly with 36-year-old Troy Bunch of Lebanon on Tuesday.
TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm says the officer then fired at the man when he fled into some woods near his girlfriend's house.
TBI and the Carthage Police Department have declined to identify the officer involved.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
