Officer kills Carthage man after struggle

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Investigators say a Carthage police officer has shot and killed a man while responding to an argument between the man and his girlfriend.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says the Carthage officer struggled briefly with 36-year-old Troy Bunch of Lebanon on Tuesday.

TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm says the officer then fired at the man when he fled into some woods near his girlfriend's house.

TBI and the Carthage Police Department have declined to identify the officer involved.

Authorities are investigating the incident.

Wow this seems a bit extreme for someone arguing with their girl friend and a "brief" struggle..... Seems the cops have a free reign to kill now, I remember a time you had to actually endanger a cop or someone else before they could kill you. Of course I also remember a time you could protect your own property but now your expected to lay down and let them take whatever they want and HOPE the cops catch them and that they dont come back....
