Knoxville (WVLT) - By now you know if you're a millionaire. The Powerball jackpot was up to $173 million dollars Wednesday night.
Volunteer TV's Liz Tedone has an update.
More than one third of lottery winners end up in bankruptcy. Coming into sudden wealth can be a blessing or a curse. Perhaps that's why some people have very practical plans should they hold the winning ticket.
"I have one customer. He'll buy 2-300 dollars at a time," Pilot's assistant manager, Jason Walters, said.
Some lottery winners play every day of the week, others, only when the pot gets big. The one thing they all have in common is a dream.
"I'd take a vacation for me and my wife and then buy a home," customer Buckley Kidd said.
"I would probably donate half of it and with the rest of it live comfortably for awhile," Tyler Quarels said.
But how long is awhile? More than a third of all lottery winners go bankrupt. An even high number get divorced or suffer extreme psychological trauma, but still it's fun to dream.
"I'd have to go to Vegas, and I want to be on the Price is Right, so i'd fly to L.A. and be on the Price is Right," Quarels said.
Wednesday's winning Powerball numbers are: 10-15-16-23-31-5
