CLINTON, ANDERSON COUNTY (WVLT) -- Authorities have released the name of the the person recovered from the Clinch river in Anderson County.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says 49-year-old Cedric Wood, Sr. was pronounced dead on the scene after losing control of his truck and crashing into the river.
According to the THP, rescue crews were called to the scene of the crash around 11:30 Thursday morning near the water treatment plant at Orchard Knob Road off Highway 61.
A witness told WVLT that she was driving west when she heard a vehicle lose control behind her.
She looked back and saw a white pickup truck cross two lanes of traffic, run up an embankment, and fly about 30 feet off a boat access ramp into the Clinch River.
Search crews spent little time searching before they located a victim’s body floating nearby.
The victim was taken to a hospital in Oak Ridge where they later passed away.
Crews plan to raise the truck from the river to determine if another victim inside.
Investigators still do not know what caused the truck to lose control.
