ATHENS, Tenn. (AP) -- An Athens woman was charged with drunken driving while she was on her way to bail out her taxi driver husband on the same charge.
Police say Valerie and Joe Ray both wrecked vehicles Tuesday. Joe Ray was first taken into custody at his home after several drivers reported him weaving on the road and striking at least three vehicles.
Police say he failed a sobriety test and was arrested.
According to a police report, Valerie Ray was then driving under the influence when she wrecked her car on the way to the McMinn County Justice Center to pick him up.
Joe Ray was released on $1,000 bond, and Valerie Ray was released on $2,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on March 6 for arraignment.
