MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- A Murfreesboro police officer is being investigated by internal affairs after he pulled a gun on a truck driver during a traffic stop.
Authorities say officer Anthony Whitehead was responding to a traffic accident with injuries last Friday night. When a truck driver James Snowdon cut him off on the way, he pulled him over.
The driver was shown on police video putting his hands in the air and explaining that he didn't see the officer's car. The officer then made Snowdon lie face down during a cold, wet night as he wrote him a ticket.
Police say Whitehead then pulled a gun on Snowdon.
Murfreesboro police have put Whitehead on desk duty and decommissioned him until the investigation is complete.
