KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- If you hit the Powerball jackpot, you're going to be rich beyond your wildest dreams.
The jackpot swells to over a quarter of a billion dollars, an estimated $275 million. Good enough to be called the 7th highest jackpot ever.
Tennessee saw huge sales for Wednesday night's jackpot, according to Tennessee Lottery spokesperson Kym Gerlock. $3.1 million was wagered on the chance to win big. That's about 3 times more than a normal drawing, according to Gerlock.
70,000 Tennesseans claimed prizes in the drawing, but no one here hit all five numbers.
Sixteen tickets sold in nine other states did come close. They matched five of the six winning numbers. Each ticket wins a minimum of 200-thousand dollars.
Gerlock says you may want to buy your Saturday ticket early. Even for a regular-sized jackpot, Saturday sales are more brisk, and this week there could be an all-out rush.
Last night's Powerball numbers were: 12, 19, 30, 34 and 36. The Powerball was eight.
