Alcoa Electric raising rates

Alcoa (WVLT) -- Electric customers of Alcoa will soon be paying more to light their home.

Starting april first customers will see a rate increase of 9.65 percent.

This new hike is due to TVA raising their own rates which adds up to more than eleven percent for customers.

Alcoa Electrical Department Director Eddie Tramel tells Volunteer TV news that Alcoa's rate increase is strictly
Coming from TVA and there is no local increase.

Tramel says the average user will see an estimated increase of $10 a month.
