PINEVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Attorneys are selecting jurors in the trial of a man accused of murdering a former eastern Kentucky sheriff in 2002.
Raymond Harris is charged with murder or complicity to commit murder in the slaying of Paul L. Browning Jr. Browning was the sheriff in Harlan County in the 1980s. He was stripped of his office after being convicted of plotting to kill two political enemies.
While Browning was running again for sheriff in 2002, he was shot to death and his body turned up in a burned car in neighboring Bell County.
Jury selection in Harris' trial started Wednesday and is continuing Thursday morning.
