A Local 8 Weather Alert has been issued for Wednesday morning (the busiest travel day of the year), due to the cold rain and wet snow mix expected across East Tennessee. While it may be a cold rain in the Valley, drivers headed toward the Smokies or the Tri-Cities are more likely to encounter moderate wet snow showers. Please be advised.
Monroe County (WVLT) - Monroe County officials have charged a man in connection with an event shooting.
Officials were dispatched to a home Thursday night on Woody Fridley Road in connection to a person being shot in the neck.
Captain Bill Johnson says when he arrived, David Lee Elmore was standing over Danette Elmore, who was lying down with her feet on the coffee table.
Elmore was holding a towel around his wife's throat.
Johnson says Elmore said he was sitting next to his wife on the couch, when he put up his 22 caliber handgun.
It went off, striking Danette in the throat.
Danette was transported to UT Medical Center, where she's listed in critical condition.
Elmore has now been charged with reckless endangerment.
He was booked into the Monroe County jail and later released on a $3,000.00 bond.
