Owner of gun charged in accidental shooting death of boy

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A man has been charged with criminally negligent homicide in the shooting death of a 6-year-old Memphis boy.

Police say 19-year-old Jerome Black was the owner of a revolver that ended up in the hands of two young boys.

The boys were scuffling over the gun Monday morning when it went off, striking Charlris Fleming Jr. in the eye. He later died at a hospital.

Police said Black was one of three adults home at the apartment at the time, but they were not in the same room.

Black was being held on $100,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on March 25.
