Armed robbers hit Knoxville Waffle House

KNOXVILLE (WVLT) – Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place late Saturday night.

Investigators say they were called to the Waffle House at 5416 Asheville Highway around 10:15 PM.

According to witnesses, two black men wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and blue bandanas entered the restaurant and one pulled out a knife.

He then jumped over the counter, opened the register, and took an unknown amount of cash.

The second suspect fired a pistol and both fled to a wooded area in the back of the restaurant.

There were 11 people including employees and customers inside the Waffle House at the time of the robbery, though no one was hurt.

Police are still searching for the two suspects.
