Pair accused of running inheritance scheme to steal $5 million

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- Virginia Volner reminded many people at her Henderson County church of Aunt Bee, the lovable character on "The Andy Griffith Show."

But a federal fraud indictment says Volner and former Memphis banker Patsy Wilkerson conspired for six years to bilk more than 30 people in five states out of $5 million.

One of those people is 80-year-old Jack May who says Volner persuaded him to give her money by saying she was waiting to inherit a billion-dollar estate.

Now May says, "It was all a lie."

Volner and Wilkerson have pleaded not guilty and are scheduled for a May trial. Their attorneys declined to comment.

One question why were there no money laundry charges filed? beacuse if you read the inditment, there was 18000.00 cash giving to the banker ,then she gave it to her partner in crime Mrs Volner in the bank. Why does big bussinness not answer like we have too, if anyone had done this they would have seen prison bars by now, so pass this on, let the establishment know we will be heard this is totally wrong pass it on
