Lady Vols hoping to give Pat Summitt another career milestone

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- Tennessee's Pat Summitt is closing in an another career milestone.

She can notch her 100th NCAA tournament win Tuesday night against Purdue on Purdue's home court in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Among men's coaches, Mike Krzyzewski's 69 tournament wins rank No. 1. Dean Smith is second at 68, and John Wooden, winner of a record 10 national championships, is third at 47. Though it should be noted that when Wooden was guiding UCLA, the tournament field was far smaller.

Summitt said she was not aware of the milestone.

The lady Vols victory was stunning. The most shocking thing was the lack of respect by the Stanford team for our Flag and National Anthem. All of the Lady Vols had the right hands placed over their hearts during the presentation of the Colors and the singing of our National Anthem. Only the Stanford coach and one player had their hands over their heart. When I saw the respect that the Lady Vols displayed for our country and the lack of respect by the Sanford team there was no doubt in my mind who the winner would be.
