NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Health officials are warning consumers to steer clear of a liquid dietary supplement after three Tennesseans who drank it experienced hair loss and diarrhea.
Food and Drug Administration officials say consumers who have purchased tropical orange or peach nectar flavors of Total Body Formula or the orange-tangerine flavor of Total Body Mega Formula should throw the products away.
Tennessee is one of 15 states where the products, which have now been recalled, are sold.
Andrea Turner, spokeswoman for the Tennessee Department of Health, says the three sickened are from the eastern part of the state. None were sick enough to be hospitalized.
The FDA says the products may have contained excessive amounts of a mineral called selenium.
The Florida Department of Health also reports 23 people there have experienced serious reactions.
