KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- A Southern Kentucky man is in custody after police say he led them on a three county, two state chase after allegedly robbing a drug store in Knox County.
Ryan Shannon Brock, 34, of Lily, Kentucky, is being held by authorities in Whitley County, Kentucky, on outstanding warrants.
He also faces an aggravated robbery charge filed today out of Knox County.
A Knox County sheriff's Office spokesperson says Brock entered the CVS Pharmacy at Emory and Conner Road in Powell around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning. Deputies say Brock demanded oxycontin pills while keeping one hand in his pockets, and leading CVS staff to believe he had a weapon.
Brock fled in what witnesses described as a beat upm green car, according to deputies.
Two Anderson County deputies, watching traffic on I-75 observed the getaway vehicle and gave chase.
The chase continued through Anderson and Campbell Counties in Tennessee, before the chase entered Kentucky. Brock's vehcile was stopped in Whitley County, Kentucky, and he was taken into custody.
Deputies recovered about 1200 oxycontin pills, according to Knox County Sheriff's department spokesperson Martha Dooley.
Dooley says Brock confessed to a deputy that he stole the pills because he needed them for pain.
