Cumberland woman charged with assault on pregnant sister

CROSSVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- A Cumberland County woman is charged with assaulting a pregnant woman during a family argument.

The incident happened on March 31st. Cumberland deputies were called to 3713 Highway 70 on a report of a domestic assault.

According to the warrant, Leaha Chantel Richardson had been out drinking all day and when she returned to her home, her family confronted her.

Richardson then began to fight with everyone, and bit her boyfriend on the nose when he held her down, according to the warrant.

When Richardson got up, she allegedly punched her sister Carrie Lawson right in the stomach. Lawson is five months pregnant.

Richardson was arrested and transported her to the Cumberland County Justice Center where she remains awaiting an April 14, 2008 court date.
