Christa Gail Pike in court trying to avoid death

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Christa Gail Pike is back in a Knox County courtroom this afternoon, trying to avoid her death sentence.

Pike is convicted of torturing and killing Knoxville Job Corps student Colleen Slemmer in 1995.

Last December, a judge in the case set aside this week to hear from witnesses on a motion to get Pike's death sentence removed.

If she is guilty and she...she deserves to die. If mercy is granted that is just that...underserved kindness & favor & not something demanded or entittled...when will some get that concept. That is what grace is"undeserved favor" So far...she has much grace, she has the ability to live a while, reflect, make peace with God via the Savior Jesus. To grasp whatever blessings she can from her day, to help & inspire others for good...much more than the victem I suspect. If guilty...unless undeserved favor is given in addition to all this...prepare to meet her maker & hopefully she has accepted the grace of forginenness & pardon of sins & eternal life that was paid for by GOD Himself Jesus Christ. I'm sure she (as most or even many) heard the Gospel. Remember someone did pay for sins of many that recieve. In other words thier is consequence of sin & justice which is righteouss is not done until met. I personally dont desire her eath or anyone but nor do I deem anyone responsible for it but the guilty one.

I'm familiar with this case and to the people asking why 3 different decisions for the 3 killers, Christa's confession got her the death penalty, Tadaryl was processed through the juvenile court and couldn't get the death penalty and the other chick (her name escapes me) denied everything and they had no evidence so she was charged with accessory because it's all they could charge her with. Christa deserves her death sentence and Tadaryl deserves it too but was tried as a minor and couldn't get it so he deserves his life imprisonment without parole. The other girl does deserve jail time, it's a shame she didn't get it. I think they should just execute Pike already and get it over with, she was supposed to be exectuted 12 years ago, what are we waiting for?!

What was in the judges mind to give three different sentences to the three murderers?.Christa Pike dies, shipp gets life & patterson lives happy-ever-after.I think that is a very poor judgement from a supposedly intelligent pillar of society. How can Coleens mother, May Martinez Martinez get her head around that, & put her daughter to rest?.In the UK we dont have the death penalty. sentences are given due to involvement. But to me there seems to be a BIG gap between death & probation for the severity of the offence.

Die,Die she deserves it but that poor girl she happily murdered didn't.Looking at Christa's personality shows darkness and evil.Christa showed us who she is when she selfishly and satanically killed that young girl.Looking at Christa and her achievements in life(none) is like looking at Satans daughter. She thinks she's got it bad now, waiting the death row. With her evilness in her soul, i don't think she will have a goodlife in the next life either.I think that's what her worries should be about.

Seriously have yall even read it ALL? Tadaryl admitted IN COURT that HE took the weapons! So there should go the conspiracy charge, 2nd DR Johnathon Pincus found frontal lobal damage. IT is the LAW NOT to execute an insane person.HER rights have been violated as well as the victims!

I have always had reservations about the death penalty, and in particular the way that it can be applied in the US. HOWEVER, in the case of Christa Pike, a sociopath who poses a danger to those around her and who happily boasted about the terrible way she caused Colleen Slemmer to lose her life I have no reservations whatsoever. 13 years on Death Row is a joke, by anyone's standards. Time to let Colleen's family lay her to rest and time to stop subsidising the existence of this useless mouth.
