Knoxville-based Goody's to close more than a dozen stores

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Representatives from Goody's Family Clothing say the company will close more than a dozen under-performing stores this summer.

Right now, there are no plans to shut down any stores in East Tennessee, but two of the 18 set to close are in Nashville.

At any given time there are about 20 to 30 people employed in each store.

The Knoxville-based retailer has seen slipping sales year to year.

Goody's has more than 370 stores in 21 states.

Georgia and South Carolina will see the highest number of closings.
