Hundreds turn out to take part in kidney walk

Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT) - More than 2,500 folks in the state of Tennessee are on a waiting list. Kidney transplants, it's a procedure that takes about three to four hours - but in turn could last a lifetime.

That's why hundreds came out to take part in the kidney walk held at the UT Botancial Gardens, including our very own, Rick Russo.

There are over 105,000 people in the U.S. who currently need life-saving organ transplants.

Every 11 minutes another name is added to the national organ transplant waiting list.
