KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A grand jury has indicted a Knoxville man on one count of first degree murder, stemming from an incident in March where police say he ran over his wife after an argument over money.
Carlos R. Cornwell, 35, of Dandridge Avenue, was originally charged with second degree murder in the death of Leoned Boulanger Cornwell, 42.
Dispatchers received a call March 5 from a couple who told them a woman had been hit by a car in the parking lot of the ORNL Federal Credit Union on Magnolia Avenue.
Court records show Cornwell pleaded guilty to domestic violence after being arrested for punching his wife in the eye in 2006.
