KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knox County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested one man in connection with home invasion robbery in South Knoxville.
Wachira Whiteside, 19, is charged with Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Evading Arrest, Driving while Privilege Suspended, and Unlawful Use of Plates.
Deputies say Daniel Bounds, of Willoughby Road in South Knoxville, was asleep on his sofa when four black males busted in on him. Bounds told investigators that one of the men pistol whipped him.
They reportedly got away with a Marlin 22 rifle and a flat screen television, both valued at $1,250.00, and fled the residence in an older model silver Buick.
An officer responding the to call Tuesday night saw a vehicle matching the description of the Buick. When the car was stopped, three men took off, leaving Whiteside behind the wheel. When Whiteside got out of the car he also ran, but he was caught and arrested.
Investigators searched the vehicle and found the rifle and television that were allegedly taken from Bounds’ residence.
