GATLINBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- Traffic through a popular sightseeing spot in Great Smoky Mountains National Park will be limited during morning hours next week for road repair.
The National Park Service said Cades Cove Loop Road will be closed to motor vehicles until 10 a.m. Monday to Thursday, April 28 through May 1. The road normally opens at dawn.
Hikers and bicyclists will be allowed to use it, but only along a 5-mile stretch until 10 a.m. each day.
Crews will resurface the Abrams Creek Trail entrance road and parking area and improve drainage there. They will also repair a wooden bridge that carries the loop road over Abrams Creek.
