(WVLT) -- Women's basketball fans across the country have wondered why Pat Summitt cancelled the Lady Vols' annual rivalry with the UConn Huskies more than a year ago.
Now, for the first time, the specifics of Summitt's complaints against UConn coach Geno Auriemma have been released, thanks to Freedom of Information Act requests by both ESPN and the Knoxville News-Sentinel.
The complains read like a laundry list of minor violations, including, according to ESPN and GoVolsXtra.com:
Multiple references to the role of former UConn players Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird in the recruiting process.
Connecticut’s 2005 Super Show, an annual October event that typically draws former players and recruits, was mentioned prominently.
Although the name was redacted, there’s an apparent reference to then-top recruit Maya Moore’s visit to ESPN. The sports and entertainment network reported last month that UT raised a complaint over a private tour the Huskies women’s basketball office helped arrange in October 2005 for Moore and her mother, Kathryn.
Neither Pat Summitt nor Joan Cronan had any comment on the complaints when contacted by the News-Sentinel.
