TBI investigating East Tennessee officer fired for misconduct

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into allegations against a fired Crossville Police officer accused of misconduct.

Crossville Police Chief David Beaty says he dismissed officer Greg Patton on Monday for gross misconduct and conduct unbecoming of an officer after learning of the allegations over the weekend.

Beaty would not discuss the specific allegations against the officer but says he contacted the local district attorney's office about them. That office then asked the TBI to investigate.

Patton, a nine-year veteran of the police department, started out as a street patrolman and later served as a detective.
