CLEVELAND, Tenn. (AP) -- A father who was captured in Mexico last year and returned to East Tennessee has pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in the death of his 1-month-old child.
Daniel Ramirez faces up to 12 years in prison after he pleaded to a reduced charge Monday in Bradley County court.
He was charged with felony murder in the 2006 death of Dylan Ramirez, who died from blunt impact trauma, according to an autopsy. Prosecutors said Dylan Ramirez suffered injuries consistent with "shaken baby syndrome."
After he was indicted, officials say Ramirez and the rest of the family, including Dylan's twin, fled to Mexico. He was captured in Vera Cruz last July.
Ramirez is scheduled to be sentenced in June.
