Police investigating overnight shooting in West Knoxville

Knoxville (WVLT) - The Knoxville Police department is investigating an overnight shooting in West Knoxville.

Police officers say it happened just after midnight, at 1931 Wilkins Street.

Charles Buley, 35, was taken to the hospital. He is currently listed in critical condition at UT Medical Center.

Frederick Elder, 36, was taken into custody. Deputies say Elder was caught trying to flee the scene, and officers allegedly found a gun and drugs in his vehicle.

Elder is now charged with attempted murder and drug possession.
