Police investigating house fire in West Knoxville

Knoxville (WVLT) - Charges are pending for a homeless man after police officers say he started a fire in an abandoned house in West Knoxville.

The fire started just before 2 a.m. Thursday morning at 2523 Fillmore Avenue.

Police say a homeless man living inside the vacant house, knocked over some lit candles, which started the blaze.

The man managed to get out safely and no one else was hurt.

Charges are pending in the incident.
