Rain tapers off, wind picks up

Rain showers will be tapering off with time as we move through the night. Look for spotty rain in the early morning hours along with breezy to windy conditions.

Monday the rain will be mostly finished by mid morning but an approaching cold front will allow the winds to maintain a presence until late in the afternoon. The winds will be out of the southwest, importing in some mild air, so expect the temps to rise well into the sixties by early afternoon. A cold front moves through late in the afternoon and that should put an end to our brief warm up and our windy scenario

Tuesday will be quiet with mostly sunny skies and temps cooling down behind the front. Highs Tuesday will be in the upper 40s.

Wednesday will be an "on the edge" type of day as a large complex storm rides up the East Coast while a surge of cold air moves in from the northwest. The bulk of the precipitation should stay east of the Smoky Mountains but there may be some high elevation snow and a bit of a wintry mix for some of the Foothill communities. Don't be surprised if there are a few flakes that make it into the valley at some point Wednesday into Wednesday night as a secondary batch of moisture sneaks in from the northwest. There is some suggestion of snow moving through the northern Valley early Thanksgiving morning, so as we get closer to the event David and Heather will be able to nail down the amounts and timing much better.

Thanksgiving should be dry in the afternoon, with a cold feel to the atmosphere lingering through the weekend.

As you move through the long holiday weekend, look for a quiet scenario until Sunday when some rain may arrive.
