MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (AP) -- A 16-year-old has been ordered to face trial as an adult for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and murder of a 94-year-old man.
Willie Lee Morgan, who was abducted from his home in January and held for ransom, was lashed to a chair and beaten to death before his left hand was cut off with a butcher knife.
Hamblen County Juvenile Court Judge Mindy Norton Seals decided Friday the 16-year-old should be tried as an adult for the charge of facilitating felony murder.
He now joins four adult co-defendants, and if found guilty faces up to 25 years in prison.
