JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- Two people have been charged with kidnapping and killing a Tennessee woman in a case police initially though was a hit-and-run.
The Tennessee Bureau of investigation says 28-year-old Juan Carlos Ramirez and 40-year-old Luis Galvan Mendoza held 25-year-old Brittany Lynn Simpson of Linden against her will on July 10 before they either pushed her or she fell from Ramirez's Ford F-150 truck on Highway 412 near Jackson.
Authorities found Simpson in the left lane with severe injuries. A medical helicopter airlifted her from the scene, but she did not survive.
Both men were taken to the Henderson County Jail on Thursday night and held without bond.
It was not immediately clear if either man had an attorney.
