MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities say four people have been injured, including two firefighters, in a chemical plant fire in north Memphis.
Shelby County Fire Department spokesman Brent Perkins says firefighters from a station near Pollution Control Industries began battling the blaze at about 4:30 p.m. CDT Thursday. Perkins said air samples revealed no danger to the area, near the city of Millington.
Perkins says two employees of the company received chemical burns, but the seriousness of their injuries wasn't immediately known. Both were transported to a hospital.
Two Shelby County firefighters were also transported to hospital in stable condition. Perkins says one suffered heat exhaustion, and the other injured his shoulder.
Perkins said the cause of the fire isn't yet known but says there's no reason to suspect foul play.
