Weather Alert: Strong to severe storms are expected tonight
MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Two people were killed in a head on wreck in Maryville late Tuesday afternoon. According to Tennessee Highway Patrol reports, John Perkins and Amelia Garton Keown died when their cars collided shortly before 4:00 p.m.
Investigators believe Perkins was heading north on Highway 411 near Binfield Rd. when his 1999 Chrysler Sebring convertible crossed the turn lane into oncoming traffic. His car struck Garton's 1999 Ford Taurus.
Perkins was rushed to UT Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 2:00 a.m.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
