KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A seven year-old girl and her 21 year-old aunt were hurt on Friday morning when they and one other child darted across the road in front of a car while trying to get to their bus stop, according to the Knoxville Police Dept.
The driver of the Ford Taurus swerved, couldn't avoid the woman and her niece.
Emergency crews responded to the scene on Sutters Mill Lane around 6:40 a.m. Both the girl and her aunt, Maverynn Oliver, were taken to UT Medical Center with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Taurus, Michelle Hollingsworth, was not hurt. Police said at this point charges are not expected to be filed against her.
UPDATE: The original version of the story identified the victims as two children. Authorities have since clarified it as an aunt and her niece.
