KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities say a bank robbery suspect was arrested in Knox County after his car ran out of gas a mile away from the bank.
Knox County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Martha Dooley says 44-year-old Richard Thomas Wright was arrested Monday afternoon after a sheriff's deputy pulled up to his car on the side of the road.
It began when someone walked into a bank around 2:30 p.m. and gave the teller a note demanding money. Dooley says the man left the bank with the money and drove off.
But Dooley says a deputy came upon Wright's car on the side of the road less than 10 minutes after the robbery.
Wright has been charged with robbery.
