University of Tennessee budget approved, 6% tuition hike, $21.1M cut

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The University of Tennessee Board of Trustees has approved a $1.65 billion dollar system-wide budget that includes a 6 percent tuition increase.

The University of Tennessee in Knoxville will get $774 million of the approved budget, and the 6-percent tuition increase will amount to about a $300 hike for for full-time in-state students.

The trustees made $21.1 million in system-wide cuts, including $11.1 million cut from UT's flagship institution in Knoxville.
