Ice Cream man foils robbery

KNOXVILLE (WVLT) – A man attempted to rob an ice cream vendor late Friday afternoon in South Knoxville.

Police say it happened just before 4:00 PM on Maryville Pike. According to the vendor, a black male wearing a hooded sweat shirt with a t-shirt pulled over his face pulled out a weapon and demanded money from him.

The vendor grabbed his own money and ran to a nearby business at 1316 Maryville Pike and called the authorities.

Witnesses told police the suspect fled the area on foot, and was last seen running toward Montgomery Village Apartments.
