SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The family of a 12-year-old boy suffering from cancer says they made peace with his illness and were praying he would be relieved of pain.
Dan Morris, father of Regen Morris, says their prayers of healing had turned to prayers of relief the past few weeks.
"We also feel relief that he is no longer in any pain. No longer suffering in any way," said Morris.
Regen had become bed ridden and lost most of his abilities to care for himself. Morris says in October the family got the news that the cancer and side effects from treatment had life him with 0% chance of recovery.
"We then began hoping and praying for quick relief for our son He was suffering greatly," said Morris. "People have rallied and carried us through this year."
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who helped make this challenging year a little easier.
"We know that his life was meant to bring people closer together and bring people closer to God and he accomplished that," said Morris in a final thought.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the family of Preston Gentry, another student at Pi Beta Phi Elementary who is battling childhood leukemia, at 737 Waterfall View Lane, Sevierville, TN 37876. The family will receive friends 2-5 PM Saturday followed by a funeral service at 6 PM at First Baptist Church, Sevierville.
