ALCOA, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Officials have confirmed one death and one injury in a three-car crash on Sunday morning.
It happened around 8:12 AM between Topside Road and Alcoa Highway on the eastbound side of the Pellissippi Parkway.
The Alcoa Police Department says 73-year-old Eddy Palmer, of Oliver Springs, was rear ended by 28-year-old James Green, of Knoxville. Police say Green was blinded by the sun.
When Palmer got out of his car to look at the damage, officers say the truck was hit by a black Matrix driven by 39-year-old Jason Cox, of Knoxville, who was coming up the hill. The truck then hit Palmer and killed him.
Police say Cox couldn't see Palmer or the stopped cars because of the bright sun.
