LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT: Patches of black ice are possible, even on roads that have been cleared, because of refreezing. We have at least several inches of snow on the ground across East Tennessee. Some roads may be unplowed or untreated, make driving difficult with packed snow and ice.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Investigators are working with the Knoxville medical examiner's office to confirm the identity of the victim in a fatal crash on Middlebrook Pike.
Officers responded to a two-car head on accident around 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday on Middlebrook near Ed Shouse Road.
Officers say an eastbound delivery van collided with a westbound Scion XB.
The driver of the Scion was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Another person was taken to the hospital.
