Deadly crash in Oak Ridge neighborhood

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An accident in an Oak Ridge neighborhood has claimed a life.

It happened around 4:30 AM on Sunday on Hillside Road.

Police say a patrol officer noticed a white SUV driving a high rate of speed near Highland Avenue and Hillside Road.

After accelerating through the intersection, officers say the vehicle later lost control and hit a utility pole.

When emergency responders arrived, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers say only one person was in the vehicle.

A name hasn't been released, as the investigation is ongoing.
