KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A man is dead after crashing into a home in East Knoxville. The accident happened around 12:30 this afternoon at 2608 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
The Knoxville Fire Department found the vehicle which apparently struck the house.
Two people were inside the home at the time of the incident; a 9-year-old girl and her grandmother Mary Womble.
They were on the other side of the house when the car came through. While they were shaken up over the incident they were unharmed.
The man driving the car was transported to the University of Tennessee with life threatening injuries and died when he arrived at the hospital.
The driver of the car has been identified as 56-year-old William Dixon, Jr., of Knoxville.
Police say he may have suffered a medical condition that resulted in a crash. The investigation is ongoing.
The Red Cross is assisting the family with any needs they may have. This investigation is ongoing.
