Medical problem causes Knoxville K-9 officer to crash

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Knoxville Police Department K-9 officer was involved in a crash Wednesday on I-640.

A news release says the officer suffered a medical problem which caused the officer to lose control of his cruiser.

The vehicle traveled across three lanes of I-640 and into the median.

The officer was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment. The K-9 is being examined for any injuries.

It does not appear the dog was injured at this point.

The name of the officer has not been released.
