Tennessee mom charged in Pennsylvania with poisoning infant son

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- A Tennessee woman is in the Allegheny County Jail on charges she poisoned her 4-month-old son with a salt water solution.

Pittsburgh police say 21-year-old Amber Brewington is jailed on attempted homicide and other charges.

Police say the boy became ill and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville earlier this month.

The boy was transferred to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and his condition improved while only his father was present. But after Brewington visited, Pittsburgh police say the boy's condition declined on July 13 and again July 15.

Police say they found salt, a syringe and a drink solution in her backpack and say she confessed to trying to poison the boy.
